Build your programme

Answer six short questions and upload your soil test. You will get a full season programme and an indicative quote, and you can change any of it before you give us your details.

This is an indicative programme, not agronomic advice.

This programme was generated automatically from the soil result and details you supplied. It has not been reviewed by a person and does not account for your field history, cultivar, local disease pressure, water quality or seasonal conditions. RegenZ does not employ a SACNASP registered agronomist and this document is not a substitute for advice from one. Rates and products should be confirmed before you apply anything.

Step 1 of 6

What are you growing?

Used to lay the programme out week by week. Leave it blank if you are still deciding.

t/ha

How do you water and spray?

Two separate questions. How you irrigate is not the same as what you can spray with, and both change the programme.

Your soil test

Upload the report and we will read it for you. It should be less than one year old.

Check these numbers

This is what we read from your report. Correct anything that looks wrong before we build the programme.

Soil value Your figure Where it came from

Leave a box blank if your report does not have that value. Blank is better than a guess: we work with what we can prove and tell you what we could not.

Do you have a budget in mind?

Optional. If you set one and the full programme costs more, we will show you what we would take out first, and why. Lime, the planting base and nitrogen are never cut.

Questions farmers ask us

How do I read a soil test?
Start at the top with pH and acid saturation, because those two decide whether anything else you apply will actually be taken up. On an acid soil, phosphorus is locked up by aluminium and much of what you spend on it is wasted, so correcting the acidity comes before the fertiliser. Then look at the main nutrients: phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and sulphur (S), usually reported in mg/kg. Then the micronutrients: zinc, boron, copper and manganese. Compare each figure against what your crop removes at the yield you are aiming for, which is the gap the programme has to fill. If you upload your report here, we read those figures off it, show you every one of them on screen and flag anything we were not confident about, so you can correct it before we build anything.
What fertiliser should I use for cabbage in South Africa?
There is no single answer, and anyone who gives you one without seeing your soil test is guessing. Cabbage is a heavy feeder, particularly of nitrogen, potassium and calcium, but what you actually need to apply is the gap between what your soil already holds and what the crop will remove at your target yield. That is the calculation this wizard does: it reads your soil test, compares it to the removal figures we hold for the crop, and gives you a week by week programme with quantities. If cabbage is showing as available in the crop list, we hold a verified South African planting rate for it. If it is showing as programme on request, we do not, and we will build it for you by hand rather than guess a rate.
How much lime per hectare do I need?
It depends on your acid saturation, not on your pH alone, and it depends on whether your soil is short of magnesium. We work the figure out from the acid saturation on your soil test and tell you whether to use calcitic or dolomitic lime, based on your calcium to magnesium ratio. We will not put a number on it without seeing your test, because the wrong lime rate is expensive in both directions. Two things worth knowing. Lime takes six to eight weeks to work, so it goes on well before planting. And RegenZ does not sell lime or gypsum: we give you the recommendation in tonnes per hectare only, you buy it locally, where most of the delivered cost is transport, and it is never on our quote or in our total.
Which soil test reports can you read?
Upload a PDF, a photograph of the page, or a spreadsheet, up to 10 MB. We read Bemlab and FAS (Department of Rural Development) layouts directly, and we try to read other labs as well. Whatever we manage to read, you see every value on screen before anything is built, and you can correct any of it. Anything we could not find on your report is left blank rather than filled in with an assumption, and anything we were not confident about is flagged for you to check. If we cannot read your report at all, you can type the values in by hand and carry on, or WhatsApp it to us on 063 412 5473.
Is this proper agronomic advice?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. This programme is generated automatically from the soil result and the details you supply. No person has looked at it. It does not know your field history, your cultivar, the disease pressure in your area, your water quality or the season you are having. RegenZ does not employ a SACNASP registered agronomist, so nothing here is a substitute for advice from one, and the same wording appears on the programme and on the PDF. Confirm the rates and the products before you apply anything. If you want a person to look at your soil test, WhatsApp us on 063 412 5473 and we will.
What happens to my information?
You can build a full programme and see the whole quote without giving us your name. Nothing that identifies you leaves your device until you have read the consent wording, ticked the box and tapped the button, and the box is never ticked for you. When you do send them, RegenZ (Pty) Ltd stores your name, farm name, email, WhatsApp number, province, your soil values and the quote we produced, and uses them to produce your quote, send it to you and talk to you about it. We do not sell your details. You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you at any time and we will. The consent wording is versioned, so we can always show you exactly what you agreed to and when.
